Wow 2013 it came so fast and already feels like its chugging along under steam. Well any New Years Resolutions? I have made none I will  take it as it comes. I have to admit I'm not sorry to see 2012 done and dusted. I have several things planned for this year and first cab off the rank is a party...

One Two Three .....

I actually finished three CDA challenges this weekend. I can't believe it I couldn't get motivated and was running out of time for the deadlines. I had a break last week and went to New Zealand to see my Mum and Dad and since coming home haven't been able to stop the creative urge. Hooray!
1. My first guord painted doll called Babs.
2. My new summer bag that doubles as a clutch or shoulder strap.
3. Socks the Tabby he's made from calico hand painted and a fun change Sam has claimed him already.
Now to finish the three quilts sitting on my work table.

Art Bra and design challenges.

As part of the Sydney Craft & Quilt show a challenge sponsored by the Sydney Morning Herald to create artist flair to bras in aid of breast cancer had a fabulous response. These are just a few although the volunteers told me that the paper has a full showcase of them all with voting for your favourite.  I loved the names everyone came up with. I can't think of a better cause.

Two paintings and an experiment

My hand

I thought I'd show you what I have been doing in my spare time (lol) I love to play with paint and use different textures and mediums to see how they look. The first painting is of my hand where I used acrylic paints and oil pastels for highlights. The fish came from the same mediums but I used a tootpick for the scale effect and a paper towel cardboard inner circle for the background bubbles. I used a piece of paua shell for his eyelid and a hot fix gem for his eye. The mini mannequin is a WIP I'm experimenting with crackle this is one step crackle and I'm happy with the result so far.

Here I Am

Did you miss me I missed you all. I had some health issues slowly getting back into things I have a finished project to show you. My CDA group has been having some challenges for "steampunk" dolls (or birds) and this is my little project done from a fabulous frowning francis (don't you love the name) pattern. I'm looking forward to the Christmas break this year I'm working through and taking a break in January. Yeah more time to craft hooray working on a new bear pattern and a new doll and a quilt. I hope you all have a lovely Christmas with family and friends and 2012 is everything you hope for.

Much love Raewyn

These are the two dolls finished from the online class I just did with Anita and Brianne called "Things with Wings" on Willowing a series of three dolls including the Bee doll in an earlier post. What I loved about this class was the freedom to use anything you liked in the dolls from the hand painted fabric on the butterfly which was fabulous to make to the hand dyed fabric of the Dragon Fly. Encouragement to be creative and think outside the square with colours and fabrics I can't wait for the next class to begin I'll be sure and post details when they are released sometime around October /November in the mean time I'm doing an art journal course with Anita on her Just be Yourself website we've just finished week one of five and I'm loving it.

These are my hand drawn ATC's of famous paintings for my latest swap. Picasso's Head of a Woman and Van Goghs Sunflowers. Sunflowers I used water colour pencils and Head of a Woman I used prima pencils. I love both artists works very different but also very inspiring.
